At 9:30 The Night Before Thanksgiving

I thought I'd post my menu for tomorrow -- and I'm having 5-count-'em-5 last minute guests! (FUN!)

Roast turkey with giblet gravy, thickened with xanthan
Apple-Walnut Dressing (see my most recent podcast transcript at Dana's Low Carb For
Green Beans Almandine
Roasted Brussels Sprouts
Mashed Rutabaga (in the slow cooker as I keyboard this -- rutabaga takes a heap of cooking to get soft.)
Pumpkin Pie with a Pecan Praline Crust
Whipped Cream

I should be baking the pie right now, but I'm wiped. I'll do it in the morning. I have to have the turkey in at 9:30, but fortunately I am the proud owner of a tabletop convection oven. The pie can bake in that.

Pumpkin Pie with a Pecan Praline Crust

I cannot tell you how important (i.e. delicious!)
the Pumpkin Pie with Pecan Praline Crust recipe is to me. I often make it without the crust in muffin cups as a sort of pudding and keep it in the freezer. I have made it many, many times and exactly as the recipe specifies (the baking time is perfect for my oven). The recipe is in Dana's "500 Low-Carb Recipes" and is worth the price of the book.

(Hardcore low-carber for 10 years; never an A1C above 5.8; no metformin or other diabetes meds since June 2011, with numbers now lower than ever)

Dana's recipes

I have every cookbook Dana's has ever written . 500 and more 500 low carb recipes, Dana should I buy 1001low carb or are there new recipes in that book. Just say the word and I am on it. Have never cooked anything out of your books that turned out bad. Heroin Wings are one of my favorites, on my way to Amsterdam now (I am a flight attendant ), can't wait to get back to cook up another batch. Hope no one ask me to share the ones I have in my lunch bag (smile).

Don't tell my publisher I said this, but save your money. 1001 is compiled from recipes from the previous cookbooks; if you have all of the earlier ones, you have all the recipes. :-D

And thank you!

At almost 11 o'clock Thanksgiving night

This has me grinning ear to ear. I will go to bed happy. Thank you.
